Youth Job Connection

Youth Job Connection (YJC) is a program to help youth, 15 – 29 years old, find and keep jobs. It is a PAID program with several components.

Choosing to participate in this program through YES is to ensure that:

• you will finally get the job you deserve, with one of our 1,000+ great employers

Planning and Coordination

You will meet with a Career Counsellor and discuss your goals and your path to a sustainable job. Together you will make a plan on how this goal can be reached, with the help of the YJC program.

Pre-employment Activities

You are required to participate in 60 to 90 hours of pre-employment activities. The minimum is 60 hours. What kind of activities you would take part in depends on your skills and your needs, but it will be activities in the areas; Career Development, Personal Management, Job Readiness, Job Attainment, Employment Related Skills and Job Maintenance. All the activities are PAID with minimum wage.

Job Placement / Work experience

After your minimum of 60 hours of paid pre-employment activities have been completed you will start working and get paid for your effort . The placement is up to 26 weeks and during this time we will stay in contact with you and the employer to ensure that everything is working out and you will get the coaching you need to be successful. During the placement you might also be entitled to some extra financial supports, but this is based on needs.

Education and work transitions supports

After the placement you might be entitled to extra supports; more coaching, being part of networking events or becoming a mentor for others in the program.
