CKNW Vancouver Talks Youth Employment with YES

June 1, 2025 – CKNW Radio in Vancouver, with host Scott Shantz, spoke to YES President & Chief Executive Officer Timothy Lang about this summer’s youth employment job prospects. Lang discussed the recent difficulties for youth finding jobs, in part due to the volatile U.S. leadership and uncertainties caused by tariffs. This instability has caused many businesses to slow their hiring. Still, Lang responded, there are many opportunities for youth, and seeking out services like YES, Gastown Vocational Services, Pathfinder, or more in Vancouver and beyond can help youth prepare and find work. “Casting a wide net and staying positive” are also critical, Lang said.
