YES is thrilled to have been selected as a recipient of the Starbucks Foundation ‘Opportunity for Youth’ grant. The Starbucks Foundation have awarded a grant to YES to help support 680 opportunity youth (youth that are not engaged in employment, education or training), many of whom are facing challenges such as living in poverty, having less than Grade 12 education, experiencing mental health issues, and having no prior work experience.

The grant from The Starbucks Foundation will be used by YES to provide these youth with the skills, tools, knowledge, and resources needed to finding and maintaining employment or starting a business. Thanks to this grant, youth will participate in a number of development trainings including pre-employment, life skills, hard skills, entrepreneurial skills, leadership skills, and on-the-job experience. June 6, 2015 – Youth Employment Services YES, Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Timothy Lang as President and Chief Executive Officer.

“The Board of Directors and Presidential Selection Committee conducted a comprehensive search to identify a President and CEO who will help lead YES into the future and ensure that it continues to achieve its vision of ‘Changing lives…forever’. As President and CEO, Tim Lang will lead a strong team that annually helps tens of thousands of young people develop skills that help secure employment”, said James Hunter, Chair of the Board of Directors. “We are delighted to have found such a leader in Timothy Lang, whose exemplary qualifications will build on YES’ extraordinary strengths and further position the organization for long-term, success.”

Timothy Lang is an accomplished leader in the private and not for profit sector with a record of inspiring organizations to achieve results and growth. Tim previously held senior management and executive positions with Xerox Corp., Bell Canada, Energy Savings Income Fund, and St. Francis Xavier University. As Global Vice President at ES Income Fund he led unprecedented corporate growth, expanding into several new Provinces and States and helping create thousands of jobs. As Vice President at StFX University, Tim led his division to achieve record growth in national reputation, Alumni affinity, communications and fundraising, which included working closely with former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and raised over $100 Million for the Mulroney Institute of Government.

Tim has served on several not-for-profit boards, food banks and youth organizations. Tim speaks and lectures frequently at national events, corporations and universities on topics of leadership, motivation, sales, marketing, communications, fundraising, and more. Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from StFX University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Manitoba. Tim received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2012 for outstanding contributions to the community.

Timothy Lang assumes his duties as YES President & CEO effective July 6, 2015.
