Mentoring at YES

What is Mentorship?

Mentoring is defined as a close developmental relationship between a more experienced individual with a less experienced person. The goal is to build character and competence on the part of the Mentee. Studies have shown that Mentors who gain the trust of Mentees through interaction and time can have a great influence on their lives. Mentoring provides an opportunity for the free exchange of information, skills, training, support and a networking opportunity.

Why should you mentor?

Clients seeking a mentor are motivated and going beyond the traditional learning methods of labour market research. They WANT to meet you and seek your knowledge and guidance. How rewarding would it be for you to feel like you made a difference in someone’s life?

Who would you mentor?

At YES, we serve adults and youth. Our clients range from having less than a high school education to university graduates, high school graduates thinking about what to pursue in post secondary education, skilled newcomers, and future apprentices in the skilled trades, as well as people seeking a career change. You, as a professional in your field, are the best resource our clients have in taking that first step forward to better their lives and learning more about what their future could look like. How did you get to where you are today? What is the labour market like in your industry? What do you like or dislike about your job/industry?
