Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2015 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon and help to raise $15,249 for YES! We are so grateful for everyone who ran or walked the race for YES and to those of you who supported those participating. The money raised will help support youth in our community through our critical pre-employment programs and services. You can learn more about how YES supports our community in our 2015 annual report.
We applaud our amazing staff, Board of Directors, and friends that volunteered to run or walk in the marathon and fundraise for us. We are so grateful for your dedication to our organization and we cannot thank you enough.
To the individuals that sponsored our runners – thank you so much for your generosity! Your gifts demonstrated your commitment to helping youth succeed in our community. We are blessed to have you be a part of our cause.
The Charity Challenge reinforced that if we work together as a team, we can have a significant impact in our community. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for choosing to be on the YES team!
YES is thrilled to have been selected as a recipient of the Starbucks Foundation ‘Opportunity for Youth’ grant. The Starbucks Foundation have awarded a grant to YES to help support 680 opportunity youth (youth that are not engaged in employment, education or training), many of whom are facing challenges such as living in poverty, having less than Grade 12 education, experiencing mental health issues, and having no prior work experience.
The grant from The Starbucks Foundation will be used by YES to provide these youth with the skills, tools, knowledge, and resources needed to finding and maintaining employment or starting a business. Thanks to this grant, youth will participate in a number of development trainings including pre-employment, life skills, hard skills, entrepreneurial skills, leadership skills, and on-the-job experience. We look forward to working with Starbucks and their employees to change lives, forever.
